Tegwyn Dougherty

bio_tegTegwyn was born in St. Louis, Missouri and at the age of 3 moved to Harrison, Arkansas where she lived until graduating from Harrison High School. She then attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, to ski and get a degree “in her spare time.” Tegwyn graduated with a degree in Parks and Recreation and a dream to work in industrial recreation to help keep the corporate world healthy and fit.

Unable to find a job making more than $2.50 an hour, Tegwyn quickly got into sales in the resort in industry in Aspen, representing first the Aspen Chamber then the Aspen Skiing Company promoting skiing around the world. In the spring of 2005, Tegwyn began looking for an alternative to running in order to stay fit due to constant pain from degenerative disk disease in her spine, and ruptured L4 disk. She discovered Bikram Yoga while living in Palm Springs California, and although it hurt, knew instinctively that this yoga would heal her body. She did not realize how much it would heal her and change her mind about life and how to live it.

Tegwyn retired from the hotel business February 16, 2007 and sent her application to attend teacher training with a renewed spirit. She had the knowledge that this yoga was going to be a part of her life forever and is a gift of health and spiritual living she wanted to share. Working and living the dream that started at 18 years old finally coming full circle after a life experience working in the corporate world.

Tegwyn is married to Erin Dougherty, VP of Operations for the Dominion Golf Group living happily with their sweet old yellow tabby cat, Max. After years of moving around the country for both careers, the Dougherty’s are happily settled in Texas and love living in San Antonio.
